It took a few days to grow accustomed to the Metro, the train and bus systems, as well as the streets surrounding my apartment location. Overall, Madrid is a navigable city and their public transportation workers are patient with my Spanish.
This first week has mainly been centered on orientation and introductions. Next week (Tuesday), the group will be traveling for 7 days through Spain! One of the stops includes Barcelona, as we will work our way up the East side of the country and head towards the North before returning to Madrid for classes.
After our orientation and Spanish Placement Exams, we went to "un partido de fútbol" (soccer game) The game was between Madrid's other team (like the Mets are to the Yankees) called Atlético and Barcelona. It was quite the experience! All I kept thinking was that you would never get a PACKED stadium in the U.S. on a Wednesday night for a less popular game!
